Newcastle integrity management business set to expand

4 March 2020

One of the North East’s leading integrity management specialists is celebrating almost a decade in business with impressively doubling its turnover in the last 12 months following a series of contract wins coupled with a major office move, as it announces ambitious growth plans.

Founded in 2011 by Philip Surtees and Steve McKenny - Origin Integrity Management - has recently moved to a contemporary office located at Prestwick Park in Newcastle, which is located only minutes away from the city’s airport.

The move – to premises extending across two office spaces over 1,500ft – is to cater for the company’s ambitious five-year growth plans as it looks to offer its leading integrity management services to new markets including renewables and water.

Already working with major oil and gas players including the likes of Dana Petroleum, Neptune Energy, Chevron Angola E&P, Origin is also well underway in developing new innovative technology due for imminent launch that is set to be a gamechanger across multiple sectors.

To support the company’s growth, it is also looking to increase its staff by 25% - presently at 14 - and is under way with recruiting graduate, senior and lead engineers.

Speaking about Origin’s growth plans, Philip Surtees, operations director at Origin said: “We are delighted with the company’s continued and sustained growth over the last few years, particularly during the downturn of the oil and gas industry. Our performance - and repeat business from clients - is true testament to our extensive capabilities in delivering a complete turnkey integrity management offering with a holistic and personable approach.

“Having carved a reputation for helping our clients to significantly reduce risk to personnel and the environment, whilst also reducing costs and increasing efficiencies, now is the right time to propel the business to the next level through entering new markets and launching innovative technology.

“To do this, we have relocated to a highly professional office space to accommodate our, soon to be, growing numbers of staff and house our latest technologies. The office space is perfectly situated next to excellent transport links – in a very desirable location - which is great for our growing client base and employees.”

With plans to further double its turnover in the next 12 months – currently at £1.2 million – the company’s personnel possess first-hand experience of front-line operations with major operators as well as extensive consultancy experience, a trait that is unique to the market allowing the business to truly understand its clients day-to-day issues and how to resolve these.

The expansion plans come on the back of the business bolstering its senior management team with seasoned commercial director, John Marsden, joining the business in September to support commercialising the new technology offering and expand the company’s presence across a global scale.

Speaking about the firm’s recruitment drive, Marsden said: “As a team we are dedicated to making a real difference for our customers and we are looking for like-minded engineers who are innovative, have a can-do attitude and want to grow with our business.

“It is a really exciting time to join our progressive company as we continue to develop new technology that is going to make a real impact across multiple sectors.”

Origin Integrity Management develops world class technologies and systems to prevent asset failures to increase its client’s uptime and productivity. It has worldwide experience in integrity management and inspection gained in regions such as Asia, West Africa, South America and the North Sea. The company also has offices in Mexico and Australia and plans to open a fourth office in Aberdeen.
