TÜV SÜD presents Siemens Gamesa with type certificate for wind turbine SG 2.1-122

4 October 2018

Within the scope of type certification, TÜV SÜD reviewed and tested the overall concept and all key components of the SG 2.1-122 turbine made by Siemens Gamesa. By issuing the type certificate the third-party provider of testing and certification services confirms that the turbine meets all requirements related to design, prototype testing and manufacturing as specified in the internationally recognised IEC series of standards. The SG 2.1-122 wind turbine has a rotor diameter of 122 m. Siemens Gamesa developed the turbine for “low-wind sites” to ensure maximum energy output even at low wind speeds.

“Investors, project engineers and wind farm managers worldwide rely on wind turbines certified according to international standards”, says Dr Martin Webhofer, Head of Wind Energy at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. Type certification is an internationally recognised procedure regarded as a prerequisite for participation in calls for tender for international wind energy projects.
