Leading wind tunnel specialist Deutsche WindGuard has extended the DAkkS-accredited measurement range. Accredited anemometer calibrations can now be conducted with flow speeds from 0.5 m/s up to 38 m/s. In the same course, the overall measurement uncertainty was reduced to 0.25 % (however not less than 0.025 m/s). This is the result of a long-term internal quality initiative. During said initiative, the fourth calibration wind tunnel with a test section area of 1.2m by 1.2m received MEASNET approval.

“As part of our commitment to the highest quality, we have succeeded in reducing the measurement uncertainty by up to 60% in a sustainable manner,” says Nicholas Balaresque, managing director of Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH. “These extremely precise measurements were made possible by a comprehensive improvement process and state-of-the-art measurement technology. Among other things, we use the Laser Doppler-Anemometer (LDA) in one of our four wind tunnels, which Germany’s National Metrology Institute, the PTB, uses as the primary standard for wind velocity.”
