If you operate wind turbines you know that downtime costs – and costs a lot.

Wind turbine lubricants need to last as long as possible. They must offer excellent oxidation and shear stability. And they must protect key turbine components, including main bearings and gear boxes, from failure.

At ExxonMobil, our experienced field engineers and diverse lubrication solutions have put us at the forefront of wind sector lubrication for more than 30 years.

In fact, one of our lubricants is used in more than 40,000 wind turbines worldwide.

Our products can help extend equipment life, reduce maintenance costs and increase uptime – protecting your business from within.

Our key wind products include: Advanced gear oils proven in the field

  • Mobil SHC Gear 320 WT: an advanced wind turbine gear oil engineered to provide optimum protection. We’re so confident in the durability of Mobil SHC Gear 320 WT gear oil that we offer a seven-year extended warranty.
  • Mobilgear SHC™ XMP 320: this wind turbine gear oil is the initial-fill gear oil of choice for many of the world’s top wind turbine builders.

Both lubricants are specially formulated to resist micropitting of modern, case hardened gearing. They can also operate in both high and low temperature environments.

Greases for extreme conditions

Our wind turbine greases are engineered to help protect the main, pitch and yaw bearings on wind turbines. They can also ease start-up at low temperature and help extend re-greasing intervals – all reducing service costs.

Our most recent addition, Mobil SHCTM Grease 102 WT, can help protect wind turbines in the most extreme conditions – from -50˚C to 120oC. In fact, even at -50˚C, Mobil SHC Grease 102 WT offers excellent mobility and pumpability. This helps ensure optimum lubrication while also protecting against pressure-related issues.
