A strong presence of leading international players from across all of the sector’s key markets is set to make WindEnergy Hamburg onshore and offshore expo, which will run 23-26 September, the global meeting point for the entire wind industry.

WindEnergy Hamburg, the leading international fair for the wind industry, will be held in Germany’s second-biggest city for the first time. During 23-26 September 2014, the Hamburg Fair site will be the meeting point for energy industry experts from all parts of the world.

WindEnergy Hamburg gives this global industry the ideal platform for dialogue and presentation of its innovations, new technologies and services, and covers the whole of the value chain for onshore and offshore. More than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world are expected and will be presenting their products across the 65,000m2 of exhibition space. Hamburg is the wind capital of Europe, making it the perfect international setting, with real cosmopolitan flair.

"The main focus of the expo will be the energy transition in Germany that has made it the leading technology location and, above all, the key role of wind energy in its realisation," says Bernd Aufderheide, president and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC).

"This leading event will be the industry showcase for current and future technology developments, showing how they contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable energy supply.

"That is of great interest in every country, and that makes WindEnergy Hamburg the forum this year for major growth stimulus for the industry worldwide," he adds.

Worldwide representation

WindEnergy Hamburg is the showcase for all companies active in international business, and for current and emerging national markets. The huge international interest is shown by the presence of global plant manufacturers such as Alstom, Areva, Daewoo, Enercon, Gamesa, GE, Nordex, Senvion, Siemens, Vensys and Vestas.

Leading companies from all the relevant market segments will be there: planners, manufacturers, equipment suppliers, financial service providers, operators, energy supply companies and service providers. Alongside the key players, small and medium-sized enterprises from all parts of the value chain will also be exhibiting in Hamburg.

All in all, companies from more than 30 countries will be present. Companies from individual nations have got together in a total of 18 national coalitions for joint-presentation of their product ranges. Of the 18 national groupings, 11 are from European countries, ranging from Denmark to Turkey. The other seven are from Argentina, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Japan, Korea and the US. In addition, there will be visitor delegations from countries such as Brazil, China, Japan and Mexico, making use of the extensive information and international networking opportunities at the expo.

Timed to perfection

WindEnergy Hamburg is timed to generate synergies with SMM Hamburg (the leading maritime industry fair) and H2Expo – e-mobility, fuel cells, hydrogen and storage solutions – that will help experts from the wind industry make additional contacts in new fields of business.

Many companies in the shipbuilding industry exhibiting at SMM Hamburg 9-12 September will also be present at WindEnergy Hamburg. They include shipyards, ports, logistic companies and representatives of the maritime equipment industry. The strong presence of exhibitors from the wind and maritime sectors means that WindEnergy Hamburg is also the biggest offshore industry fair.

In parallel to WindEnergy Hamburg, H2Expo will also showcase approaches for integrating renewables in the energy market with solutions in storage and mobility.

As the leading international wind industry exhibition, WindEnergy Hamburg will be held at the Hamburg Fair site every two years. In addition, HUSUM Wind, an exhibition with a focus on the national wind market will be held in Husum, 15-18 September 2015. HUSUM Wind will likewise be held every second year. With its location in the pioneering wind energy area of the German North Sea coast, this traditional meeting point will provide in-depth exchanges within the industry and generate practical added value.
