American Wind Energy Association - Elevate the business through wind

The WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition will continue as the heart of CLEANPOWER, with exhibition space and conference programming as well, for utility-scale solar, storage and other clean energy technologies. By incorporating these technologies into a single exhibition hub, CLEANPOWER will create efficiencies for exhibitors and attendees with pan-renewable business models. Pure play businesses will benefit from increased show traffic and opportunities to build beneficial partnerships across the cleantech industry.

Something to build on

Attendees of WINDPOWER 2019 saw into the future, as the biggest wind energy conference in the Western Hemisphere announced its next evolution to become CLEANPOWER - offering an opportunity for companies in wind, solar and storage to learn, and do business in the large-scale pan-renewable industry. The 2019 postshow report highlighted CLEANPOWER's potential to add more value for attendees, given the already high level of multitechnology business at the show.

The 2019 show's theme, WIND+, was named appropriately, as 42% of the WINDPOWER 2019 exhibitors also do business in renewable segments other than wind. Of that 42%, 85% are involved in solar; 33% are involved in energy storage; 26% are involved in hydropower; and 23% are involved in other renewable sectors.

The pan-renewable education programme

Chris Brown, president of Vestas' sales and service division in the US and Canada, and Teresa Mogensen, senior vice-president of energy supply at Xcel Energy, will provide vision and leadership that defines the next conference's programme objectives, and the selection of session topics and speakers.

"For years, the WINDPOWER Conference has been the leading platform for wind industry leaders, like Vestas, to gather market intelligence, network and build partnerships," Brown says. "While WINDPOWER will remain at the heart of this event, I'm thrilled to help guide its evolution into an expanded scope as CLEANPOWER - a bigger opportunity for companies in wind, solar and storage."

"Xcel Energy is committed to a carbonfree future that requires wind, solar, storage and other technologies to work together," Mogensen adds. "That's precisely what CLEANPOWER 2020 will do. As conference chair, I'm honoured to develop a program that will help our sector grow more efficiently by addressing issues in finance and investment, electrification, grid integration, market design and transmission, and the myriad federal, state and regional policies that we must navigate."

The show floor

WINDPOWER has always been the place to connect with major players in the US wind energy industry and the CLEANPOWER hub will bring in new attendees from across the utility-scale renewable industries. It is designed from the ground up for the diverse clean energy industry and supply chain professionals, who are building the future of a cleaner, more affordable energy economy.

CLEANPOWER 2020 will feature WINDPOWER, Solar America and Energy Storage America under one roof. The event will showcase exhibitors and conference programming specifically for utility-scale wind, solar and storage, and focus on key, strategic issues impacting the pan-renewable community. In addition to the expanded exhibition, there will be an opportunity to meet directly with purchasing directors of leading renewable energy companies during the Pitch and Purchase event.

The next chapter continues

Since its inaugural meeting in the '90s, WINDPOWER has been a leading conference for emerging energy technologies and it will continue to be at the heart of its next chapter as CLEANPOWER. Incorporating these additional technologies into a single exhibition hub will be more convenient for pan-renewable and multi-tech businesses. Companies that specialise in wind or utilityscale solar will also benefit from an efficient business development forum that attracts an exclusive audience of large-scale project developers, corporate buyers, and utilities.
